Many of the artists I met at this year’s Comicpalooza had a small travel set of watercolors at their table. The portable paints enabled these artists to create commissions onsite. It was interesting that they were able to work with a smaller array of colors but still turn out amazing pieces, and quite quickly at that!

Winsor & Newton Cotman watercolors are vibrant and beautiful watercolor paints. For someone who is interested in trying out watercolors for the first time — or if you are someone who is looking for a small palette for travel — the Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolor Pocket Plus Set is both convenient and wonderful quality.

The compact design features twelve watercolor paints in half-size pans, with a lid that includes three mixing compartments. There is also a Mini Plus Set with just eight colors and a larger version with twenty-four colors. The whole set snaps shut to help protect the paint when not in use. If you need a paintbrush, you’re in luck: the Pocket Plus Set also includes an additional palette to mix more colors, and #5 Cotman pocket brush.

My verdict is that the Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolor Pocket Plus Set is a great investment for artist on the go, or anyone who wants to bring their painting hobby with them to school, or on a business trip. The palette is small enough to fit into your pocket, which makes it that much easier to carry with you anywhere you go!
